Go (less) Sour

with Meyer Lemons!

I made Glazed Lemon Bread using lemons from my friend's garden. Here's the recipe (please note that it makes 2 loaves. Don't try to pour it into 1 loaf pan because the top rises and you might end up with a big unattractive muffin top).

Sugar and lemon zest

Zested lemons

Freshly squeezed lemon juice

I used bread flour and skim milk and it turned out just fine

And I just realized I also forgot the honey in the glaze.

The result. So yummy I couldn't even get a photo of it before digging in. It's sort of a light and lemony pound cake.

Phish as Food

Grilled Salmon and Roasted Veggies

Pre-heat oven to 350. Cut up various veggies and coat in olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. I used asparagus, mushrooms, and carrots. Put on baking sheet and stick in the oven for 30 minutes or so.

Coat salmon fillets in olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and dill. Grill outside so your house doesn't stink up.

Serve with rice. Eat.

Super Bowl

This was my living room during the big game on Sunday:

My dogs play flyball. So naturally as athletes, they watched the Super Bowl:

Need a closer look?

They're not smushing their noses on the TV to chase the ball for once. And check out how focused they are. I wonder who they rooted for?

MII NAMM IS

Recently, I stumbled across this which proved to be quite amusing. Wanna know what your Swedish Furniture name is? Go here.

If you're like me, you'll try your name, your bf's, and your dogs' names and then you'll chuckle. Maybe I should rename the blog to HOMEOYNEDD?

Smart As-paragus

I modified this recipe by adding asparagus.

And it was yummy.

Actual Junk in Your Trunk

Don't go to the grocery store hungry. Or you'll end up with this junk in your trunk*:

I committed a new year's resolution sin - skipping breakfast, skipping lunch, going to the store and leaving with this, eating some, and throwing leftovers away. So not only did I skip the most important meal of the day, and the meal after that, I also wasted money, and sent the leftovers in a landfill (because if it's not natural, would it really compost?).

Does anyone know if this would actually be ok for the compost?

*I don't mean that trunk. I meant the literal trunk - in your car. But I guess it might end up in that trunk too. And no one wants that!
